Kalina graduated from San Diego State University this past fall with a Bachelors Degree in Women's Studies. I too am a SDSU alumni, and returning to campus brought back a lot of good memories. It was fun walking around and seeing all the students skate to the love library to study. Never thought I would actually miss those days, but I do!
We began shooting in the Aztec Student Union Center, which is a little community hub for students with places to eat, a Starbucks and a bowling alley. The campus was really windy that day, but Kalina did not let it affect her. She smiled with her adorably giant balloon and even had some students hollering "Congrats" to her as she posed for the shots. We made jokes that her giant balloon might fly away and take her with it if the wind picked up anymore. Naturally, I would have chased after her like a crazy person [lol]!
We headed over to mission trails for the second half of the session. As we drove up, there were signs saying the trails were closed due to bad weather. Once again, we did not let the gloomy day get the best of us and we decided to shoot right outside the park. Her photos turned out to be AMAZING! These are my favorite shots from the session and they came out way better than what I had originally planned for. The hazy/cloudy lighting completely worked in our favor, and Kalina looks so stunning! I love the shot where she is looking at the mountains. It's the perfect "looking out into the future because I am a new grad" shot [sorry, I love cheesy moments lol]. I am so happy I had the opportunity to shoot with my friend, and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for her. Nothing can stop Kalina from pursing what she wants, not even a little bad weather. Congratulations again, Kalina!
