A Glam, Punk Style Wedding

I can confidently say I have never shot a wedding like Nikki & Dave’s. The Smog Shoppe was made for them. It’s edgy, funky, and grandiose with the towering hedges surrounding their nuptials, exposed brick, indoor greenery, and a bookcase filled with antique knick-knacks and vintage photos.

The blend of their punk style (embracing skeletons, dark décor, the cake, and Dave’s shoes) with ornate glamour (ubiquitous plants and flowers, gold accents, and candles everywhere) made this wedding incredibly unique, eclectic, and fun. Not to mention how perfect it was for film and those flashy, candid, and storied moments.

Nikki had two looks for the day. Her gown and cascading veil were old-Hollywood-esque, romantic, and sexy. Her party dress was flirty and baroque and worn with pearl-studded heels. Honorable mention for the sweet, silk getting-ready slip that resulted in those dreamy, wistful drinking champagne hotel room shots.

In our initial conversation, Nikki told me they were looking for images that captured laughter and that natural human energy that happens when you bring people together to celebrate, as well as the quiet, intimate moments of them as a couple just existing in their happiness and being in love. This is my sweet spot, and it was a dream to be behind the lens and deliver these images they will be looking at for a lifetime.
