A SAN CLEMENTE VINTAGE STYLE ENGAGEMENT SESSION - CALAFIA BEACH

I absolutely loved the vintage California vibes of this engagement session with Amy and Matt. We started playful yet dressed up in downtown San Clemente, and then went to Calafia Beach, a little dressed down and casual, for a dreamy California love story kind of aesthetic.

Downtown gave us a lot of scenery to play with. The sidewalks created a walking to date night type of mood, the tiled stairs were a vibrant backdrop, and running across the streets with champagne was so fun and celebratory.

By the time we got to Califia, the skies were gloomy and greyish blue and delicious. This provides such a different ambience than when it’s golden. We get more moodiness in the lighting, but it’s just as romantic. The shots we got on the beach were movie montage-esque, sexy and sweet, and perfect for black and white – some of them feeling like when you look at an old album of your parents or grandparents young and in love.

I’m in love with the movement we captured in these images and the editorial feel of the shots. They are natural and alive, sophisticated and modern, yet sentimental and nostalgic.
