Italian Garden Party Meets Chic Modern Elopement - San Diego Wedding - Maddy & Max
In the past few years, the landscape of weddings has evolved a lot. Now more than ever, I am seeing couples lean towards elopements and micro celebrations, each with their own twist on celebrating the “big day”. These types of soirées are really special to shoot because they each carry their own unique sentiment and vibe. Maddy & Max's italian garden party, meets modern chic elopement is the perfect example of this!
With an offbeat timeline, their wedding weekend started with a vibrant, and colorful italian garden party style reception at the bride’s parents home. The bride brought her dream garden party vision to life with the help of some gorgeous arrangements from Golden Sol Floral Co and the cutest tabletop rentals from Hostess Haven. The al fresco style dinner was chic yet cozy, lively yet intimate, and full of personal touches. Like custom cookies of their dogs, and espresso martinis on draft, yum!
The next day was their ceremony at the San Diego Courthouse. Maddy & Max got ready at the Guild Hotel, shared the sweetest first look and drove to the courthouse in a vintage white convertible. Yes, they are the coolest!
With only their parents and siblings present, Maddy and Max exchanged vows under the Courthouse’s iconic bougainvillea wedding arch that overlooked the harbor. After lots of hugs with family, we took some editorial shots around the courthouse and then went to the oh-so fancy Seneca Trattoria for a delicious lunch!
Riding on cloud nine and in a vintage cadillac, with a playlist of love songs, Max and Maddy drove around SD and up to a rooftop gilded by the city skyline to take the last photos of the day. Everything felt so cinematic, iconic and celebratory. It was the perfect conclusion to their perfect weekend!
Nontraditional wedding days like this one creates space for a couple to just soak in all the sweet moments of their big day without the pressure of keeping up with the timeline of a large event. When it comes to YOUR wedding day, it’s always best to celebrate in a way that feels best for you. And don’t forget to bring me along for the fun!
