A Timeless & Nostalgic San Diego Courthouse Wedding - Ashley & David

Ashley & David’s San Diego Courthouse Wedding mixed non traditional and modern elements. We mixed timeless and nostalgic vibes by taking photos at her mother’s Fallbrook estate, as well as the Downtown San Diego Courthouse and Balboa Park. I find it so creatively pleasing to flow through different ambiances and aesthetics - the common thread here being nostalgia and romance in all settings.

About the couple, Ashley & David truly are star crossed lovers. They first crossed paths in medical school, and eventually their paths met again when they both unexpectedly matched at the same residency program in Alabama. It didn't take long before they realized that fate was hinting they were meant to be. I love hearing the backstory to how my couple’s met, and do my best to carry that connection into our photoshoot. Where there is connection, there is a photo story to be told!

The day before their wedding, we took photos at her Mother’s gorgeous estate in Fallbrook, incorporating vintage cars, open fields, and charming architecture. This session was editorial, sultry, and golden. The estate, with its swirling staircase and orange trees added fairytale sweetness. My favorite part was all of the vintage style shots we took in the classic, yellow Ferrari. The photos reminded me of a getaway car in a classic romance film.

The following morning, Ashley & David met their loved ones at the Courthouse to say I Do. It was sweet, simple, intimate and emotional. There wasn't a dry eye as the two exchanged their vows. SJ Video joined the fun and filmed the most incredible, nostalgic Super 8 footage of their elopement day. Something about courthouse “I Do’s” feels so happy-ending in a 90s rom-com, adding to our vintage theme. Even when planned, it is so exciting, wistful, hopelessly romantic and screams, “I just can’t wait any longer to marry you.” The halls, the lighting, and ESPECIALLY the golden elevator doors are aesthetic gems I love to capture.

Ashley & David’s outfits also wove together the traditional & nontraditional, with the wedding classics of white dress, veil, and black suit and more modern choices of a short skirt and white suit.
